Dear Students, Youth, and Parents!<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

The fearless student uprising that erupted in Delhi against the question paper leaks and NEET scam has spread across the country like a wildfire and has made great strides! The student protests have forced the fascist Modi regime, which remained evasive and mute for 12 years, to finally break its silence, culminating in the resignation of the Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradan. The BJP-RSS, the world’s largest fascist force, is now on its knees before the students..<\/p>\n

Though this is a monumental victory, the struggle must continue until the ban of NEET. To do that, we must first understand why national-level entrance examinations for higher education, such as NEET, are implemented and whose interests they serve.<\/p>\n

NEET is only a part of the larger educational “reforms” imposed by multinational corporates to commercialize the Indian higher education system in order to plunder it and bring it under their control.<\/strong> Globally, the education sector has become a cash cow for the big corporates. The Indian education sector is a billion-dollar market. Like rapacious hyenas, the International Educational Institutions and Finance Capitalists are scrambling to capture this market. To satisfy this greed, they use international institutions such as WTO, World Bank, and trade agreements like GATS.<\/p>\n

According to the GATS agreement, ‘Education is not a public service or a fundamental right, but a commodity in the global marketplace’. Since India has signed the agreement, our educational policies and laws have been amended accordingly.<\/p>\n

As pledged at the WTO’s Nairobi Conference in 2015, the Modi government formulated National Educational Policy (NEP) 2020 to implement the mandates of GATS. Accordingly, NEP brings in the reforms such as, allowing 100% Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Higher education, Special Economic Zones (SEZs) to establish international institutions, converting public universities into autonomous institutions, conducting national level entrance exams such as NEET.<\/p>\n

So far, India’s higher education has been administered by the universities under their respective state governments. These universities are established through state government funds to meet the educational needs of the people of the state. Only by stripping the authority of these universities, the international educational firms can enter the education market. A University\u2019s autonomy is preserved only when it holds the authority to grant admissions to students through its own entrance exams. When a single entrance exam is conducted nationwide, the admissions are made homogeneous for the entire nation. As a result, private universities use the marks from these entrance exams to admit students easily. Furthermore, the authority to student admissions would be snatched away from the universities and placed in the hands of the Union BJP Government.<\/p>\n

Currently, Medical college student admissions use NEET scores to fill the seats. NEP states that this mode of admissions must be extended to all higher education including engineering, arts and science. The government enforces exams, like CUET, on universities for this purpose.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the coaching industry birthed by competitive exams like NEET has grown into corporate business valued at thousands of crores of rupees. The coaching institutes are competing to capture this market. For this purpose, these coaching institutes relentlessly corrupt the state machinery and politicians and engage in scams such as question paper leaks and fraudulence.<\/p>\n

Hence, such corruptions and scandals are not solely the fault of any individual politician or official, but the inevitable consequence of the immense growth of the coaching industry!<\/p>\n

The resignation of a minister or officers will not solve this problem!!<\/p>\n

In conclusion, the universities in imperial nations such as USA, UK, Australia, the capitalists who invested in these universities, the imperial institutions such as WTO, World Bank who serve their interests, are all in collusion to decide India’s education policy. Our fight is against these giants! Our true enemy is not just the government, but also the imperial capitalists that control it!<\/p>\n

Our enemy decides our mode of struggle. Without a mass struggle against the corporatization of education, we cannot ban NEET (and other such entrance examinations)! The struggle that brought the so-called unbending Modi gang to their knees belongs to us! Let us mobilize protests against the commercialization of education with the same enthusiasm! Let India witness the triumph of David over Goliath once again!!<\/p>\n
